What is a bareboat yacht charter?
A bareboat yacht charter allows you to self sail a boat or hire a captain and or first mate/chef to sail in the destination of your choosing. It allows you to set your own itinerary and puts you in control of your vacation. Its an amazing way to live your dreams and wake up with a new water view daily. You can bareboat monohulls, catamarans, power boats, and power catamarans all around the world. You have choices in destinations such as: Annapolis, Saint Petersburg Florida, Key West Florida, Cape Coral Florida, Abaco, BVI, St Thomas, Grenadines, and too many more to name. You can even venture to the Mediterranean with many destinations. The options are limitless.
Do I need a broker?
Booking your charter with a broker is a smart decision. It’s smart because we have done all of the homework and know the yachts, the crews, the destinations and have insights to most things that happen “behind the scenes.” When you book direct through a Captain on a private yacht, you are getting their reality only. They can be biased. Our Charter Specialists are neutral and can tell you about their experience with the crew and or the boat. The broker’s main objective is to take your requirements and weed out the ones that won’t fit, and then provide a list of ideal yachts for you to choose. The best part is we do the hard work and you get our many years of experience and expertise at no additional cost.
Why book with Waypoints versus going direct?
When you book with Waypoints, we offer an objective point of view. We want happy clients and we want to keep you coming back for every charter you want to take, no matter where it is. We have access to all of the charter companies around the world, and specialize in a handful. We know the quality that you deserve and can put you on the right boat, in the right location, based on taking the time to know what best suits you and your group.
Your charter sales specialists are veterans and have been doing this every day, year after year, and that allows us to expertly match you with your yacht. If something does go wrong, we are here to take the stress and worry off of your plate and allow you to keep smiling!
We participate in many of the international charter shows, inspect the yachts, interview crews, and visit the many destinations. There are so many options out there. Let our team sort through them and propose a few of the best of the best for you to choose from for your vacation.
What is an All Inclusive charter?
An All-Inclusive charter means just about everything you could imagine is included in the fee you pay. At a minimum, it includes: your yacht of choice, your captain, your chef/hostess, gourmet food, beverages (alcoholic and non), and many water sports activities that are personalized for you and your guests. There are destinations that have a few exclusions that could incur an extra charge. In addition, some yachts may charge extra for satalite phone usage, scuba diving/instruction, premium and excessive alcoholic beverages beyond what is onboard the yacht. There is no need to worry though, as your Charter Specialist will let you know what is and isn’t included.
How do I book a Charter?
There are so many companies and individuals offering charters around the world. Some are small “boutique” charter companies and some are the large charter yacht companies. Social media or personal references are great to help you find a bareboat charter company, but working with a charter broker who can be unbiased and has first hand experience and knowledge of what is out there is the best way to go.
Our Charter Specialists have over 13 years’ experience booking charters throughout the Caribbean and the USA and because of many satisfied customers, have been able to narrow down and work with the “best of the best” charter companies.
There are a few things that will help you in the process:
- Let us know exactly what you prefer. Because there are so many options out there, we will want to narrow down the field based on the time of year, number of passengers, the type of charter, and where you want to charter.
- Sit back and relax, and let us do the homework and make the recommendations. Pictures you see on the internet are not always up to date. We have access to the latest information on crews and yachts.
- Make a decision and put an Option on it. That way, we can lock it in before someone else charters it first. We will put the option on it and email you a charter agreement.
- Make the Deposit. Typically, you have up to 7 days to make your deposit on your charter vacation. However, sometimes it’s in demand and your option can be challenged. If challenged, you may only have 24 hours to make your deposit or you will have to release the option. Deposits are 50% of the charter fee if deposited less than 1 year from departure. If you book further in advance, a 25% deposit is normally made with the next 25% due 6 months from departure. The final balance is due 60 days in advance.
